Wev’e been seeing a lot of families this year. I love photographing families, but what truly touches my heart and brings tears to my eyes is when a dad is willing to let it all out and show the fun side I’m sure his family witnesses at home in private. What a great gift to have a dad who is willing to don a wax mustache in front of a camera to help his girls remember how much he loves them!

One of the greatest thing about this time of year is the families that have made it a tradition to come in and get their portraits done as gifts to their family. It is truly a gift for me to watch as these families grow and mature. What a great time it was with this family as you can see this big brother dearly loves his little sister. We didn’t have to ask twice to give her a kiss. And she just idolizes him. I think there might be a lesson here. hmmmm Let me think about that a moment

I get asked a lot about what families should wear for their portrait session. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am rarely all about matchy-matchy. There are times for it, but generally I like at least one outfit that is fun and colorful. Angie was so smart in that she first found a great dress for her daughter and then picked out co-ordinating colors for everyone else. Just remember, for adults, you generally want to stay solid. Too much pattern and your eye goes right for it!

It has been an early spring here in Indiana and I have loved getting out and photographing the kids in the grass. These two boys weren’t quite sure just what they thought of it all. These two have a couple of great moms. Lucky, lucky boys.

Anthony and Abigail walk into the studio and go right into play mode. Being my niece and nephew the studio and aunt mimi with the camera is like a second home for them. I love being able to just capture them in their natural state of play. They are so adorable and it was hard to narrow to these shots for the blog. Trust me there is lots more cuteness that is not posted.

Oh tooooooo cute. Anthony calls the ducks his “little buddies.”
